Be a sport, Give blood - IBTS announces details of Blood for Life Week 22nd - 28th September
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service today (Wednesday) announced details of this year's Blood for Life Week, from 22nd -28th September. Blood for Life Week aims to increase public awareness about the importance of becoming a blood donor and encourage people to become regular donors.
A number of Ireland's leading sports personalities, including Brian Kerr, the Republic of Ireland soccer Manager, Sonia OSullivan, Olympic medalist and former Irish Rugby International Peter Clohessy are lending their support to the week. Sharon Ni Bheolain, Newscaster, continues to act as our Ambassador.
The awareness week is supported by Elastoplast Sport and Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. Activities include an exciting new initiative for the IBTS, involving SMS text messaging to donors, kindly supported by Vodafone Ireland Ltd. The schedule is as follows:
Monday 22nd September: Launch with Sharon Ni Bheolain and Eoghan O'Sullivan, St Stephen's Green.

The Irish Hang-gliding Association is supporting Blood for Life Week by urging their members to donate. Members of the Leinster Branch will take to the skies to promote Blood for Life Week, weather permitting.
